We will help our clients in adding colour, objects and textures to a room in order to achieve a pleasing clean and personal look to a room. Below (Project in Essex) is the latest project we have been involved in.
Project in Essex - BeforeWhen the client moved in to their house, the living and dining rooms seen here were quite dark and unimpressive. The rooms had some lovely Victorian features such as a decorative ceiling, picture rails, cast iron fireplace with decorative tiles, high skirtings, bay window and panelled doors. The walls were papered in an anaglypta type relief paper painted a dull light grey. The floor was beautiful hard wood that had lost its lustre and needed sanding and varnishing. These two open plan rooms did not get the most of the sunshine and although long were quite narrow. The client wanted to make the most of the light and introduce a modern feel to the rooms. |
Project in Essex - AfterThe dark stained built in unit was painted in the same colour as the walls. The new shelves and the radiators were also painted in the same colour as the walls. This creates a feeling of more space because all features blend in to the walls, avoiding the eye to be drawn to them. The light fittings were all changed to give the room a more modern look. A funky roller blind from Surface View replaced the rather uninspiring venetian wooden blind. |
Project in Essex - BeforeThe shelves on the walls were plain DIY type shelves. The built in unit in the dining room has been stained a dark brown. All the walls were stripped of the relief paper and re-lined. |
Project in Essex - AfterThe room with its added feature lighting, new shelving and bright light colours is now a more welcoming and warm room to be in. The colour on the walls and woodwork is a Georgian cream colour that brings a bit of warmth to the room that would otherwise be too stark and cold if we would have chosen white throughout. |
Decorative itemsA home can be greatly improved by injecting small and interesting items to its decor. |
Mantelpiece decorationA pretty Victorian fireplace can be decorated in many ways. |
Bathroom in Ealing - beforeThe project was to liven up a fairly drab standard white bathroom. The clients decided to keep the white bathroom suite so we had to work around that. |
Bathroom in Ealing - afterWe based our colour scheme on the dark blue trim of the tiles as the client decided to keep these. We chose a bright blue for the walls and woodwork. The room had 2 windows in it, making it a bright space. The windows are dressed by roman blinds in a matching blue thai silk. The boring ceiling light was enhanced with this fun shade. |
Bathroom in Ealing - beforeThe client did not want to spend a huge amount of money installing a brand new bathroom suite along with new tiles. You can transform a room just by colour and better detailing. |
Bathroom in Ealing - afterWe chose a more interesting shower curtain that picked up the blues of the walls and tile trim. The wooden bath panel was also painted in the same bright blue as the walls and woodwork. A bathroom is one area where you can be more adventurous with colour and pattern. |
DetailingA simple pine desk can be enhanced by taking off the pine knobs and replacing them with prettily painted ceramic ones. |
